1. Shipping Carriers & Logistics

We partner with leading industrial freight carriers, including Quality Steel, for the transportation of residential and commercial propane tanks. All shipments are managed by logistics experts familiar with NFPA 58 safety standards and the requirements for hauling heavy pressure vessels.

2. Service Area Coverage

Propane Tank Distributors provides nationwide shipping within the contiguous United States. We serve residential, agricultural, and industrial locations including remote areas, though access constraints must be identified at the time of order to ensure appropriate trailer selection.

3. Freight Shipping for Large Equipment

For units exceeding 2,000 gallons, including 30,000-gallon bullets and large-scale industrial storage, dedicated flatbed freight is required. These shipments involve specialized securement and often require local unloading permits or heavy equipment on-site.

4. Flat-Rate Standard Shipping

We maintain a industry-leading $400 flat-rate shipping fee for all standard orders. This flat rate simplifies complex freight calculations and applies to all contiguous U.S. deliveries for equipment in our regular inventory.

5. Dispatch Timelines & Processing

We prioritize speed of delivery for critical energy infrastructure. Orders for in-stock units are processed with absolute priority to ensure consistent energy supply chains.

6. Weekend & Holiday Shipping

Dispatch operations and heavy equipment transit occur on business days (Monday through Friday). Holidays and weekends are excluded from estimated dispatch windows. Please plan seasonal orders well in advance to account for holiday freight delays.

7. Tracking Your Shipment

Once your tank is dispatched, you will receive a confirmation with Bill of Lading (BOL) details and tracking information where available from the freight carrier. For large equipment shipments, our logistics team may coordinate directly with your site contact for delivery window updates.

8. GEOGRAPHICAL SHIPPING COVERAGE

Propane Tank Distributors provides nationwide shipping coverage across the contiguous United States. We coordinate logistics for both residential and commercial sites, ensuring that high-quality propane vessels reach our customers regardless of their project location. At this time, we do not offer standard shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, or international territories.

9. STANDARD SHIPPING RATES

We maintain a transparent pricing model for logistics. All orders qualify for a $400 flat-rate shipping fee per order within our standard service area. This flat rate applies equally to residential ASME tanks and commercial-grade units, providing predictable fulfillment costs for your project planning.

10. SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT TRANSPORT

Large-scale propane storage solutions, including industrial bullets and large capacity vessels (over 2,000 gallons), require specialized freight transportation. These deliveries are typically handled via flat-bed trailers. Customers must ensure their site can accommodate heavy freight equipment and provide necessary unloading machinery where required.

11. DELIVERY ACCESS REQUIREMENTS

Standard delivery assumes clear access for freight vehicles. If your delivery site involves narrow roads, low-hanging trees, unpaved surfaces, or restricted access zones, please notify our logistics team prior to dispatch. Failure to provide adequate access may result in delivery delays or additional handling charges from the carrier.

12. REMOTE LOCATION DELIVERIES

While our flat-rate shipping covers the vast majority of locations, extremely remote areas or sites requiring ferry transport or specialized mountain transit may be subject to review. In these rare instances, we will contact you to discuss delivery feasibility and any potential adjustments before processing your order.

13. LIFTGATE SERVICE

Residential deliveries and small commercial units normally include liftgate service to lower the tank from the truck to ground level. Liftgate service is limited to equipment dimensions and weights that fit standard carrier hardware. Please confirm your unloading capabilities if you are ordering vessels larger than 500 gallons.

14. FREIGHT SURCHARGES AND TAXES

Our $400 flat-rate fee is inclusive of standard fuel surcharges and carrier base rates. It does not include applicable state taxes, which are calculated at checkout based on the delivery destination. Any additional services requested at the time of delivery (such as inside delivery or extended detention time) will be billed to the customer.

15. Arrival and Unloading Requirements

Propane tanks are heavy industrial equipment. Most residential sizes are shipped via freight with lift-gate service. However, for larger storage vessels, customers must ensure that appropriate equipment (such as a crane or forklift with adequate capacity) is available on-site for unloading. Failure to provide unloading equipment may result in redelivery fees.

16. Initial Visual Inspection

Upon arrival, and while the driver is present, perform a thorough visual inspection of the vessel. Check for significant dents, deep gouges in the steel, or damage to the protective shroud and valves. Minor cosmetic scratches to the primer or finish are common in industrial shipping and do not affect the integrity of the pressure vessel.

17. Damaged Shipments

If significant structural damage is identified, you must note the damage specifically on the Bill of Lading (BOL) before signing. If the damage is catastrophic, you may refuse the shipment. Please photograph any damage immediately and contact our logistics team within 24 hours.

18. Verification of Documentation

Confirm that the manufacturer's data plate is securely attached to the vessel and corresponds with the specifications on your order. For ASME certified tanks, verify the presence of the required U-stamp or equivalent certification markings as specified in the product listing.

19. Safety Seal and Vacuum Integrity

Most tanks are shipped with a factory-sealed vacuum or slight nitrogen charge to prevent internal corrosion. Do not attempt to break this seal or fill the tank yourself. Final connection and the first fill must be conducted by a licensed propane professional who will perform the necessary pressure tests.

20. Post-Delivery Claims

Claims for concealed damage or missing components not noted at the time of delivery must be filed within 3 business days. For information on returns after delivery has been accepted, please see our formal policy documentation.

21. Questions Regarding Delivery

If you have any questions before, during, or after your delivery, our customer service team is available to assist with logistics coordination and safety technicalities.
